Lava Glass
Ocean Teardrop Large 11707
Ocean Teardrop Large 11707. Inspired by the beach, the surf, the sea, and the sand. At Xmas time our coastlines are awash with the red Pohutukawa blossom, lending the Pohutukawa tree the name 'NZ Xmas tree'. This piece depicts an entire landscape. From bottom-up: the sea, the breaking waves, a stretch of beach, the hills with the blossoming Pohutukawa trees and the sky.
An exceptional work of contemporary glass art, this large Volcanic Teardrop is a celebration of nature, artistry and craftsmanship. Handblown by award-winning glass artist Lynden Over at Lava Glass Studio in Taupō, New Zealand, each piece is an original creation, making it a distinctive addition to a private collection or a captivating centrepiece in a considered interior.
Dimensions: H 340 mm x W 280 mm x D 170 mm
Part of Lynden Over’s signature Volcanic Series, the piece draws inspiration from the dramatic geological landscapes of Aotearoa. Through a remarkable layering technique, Lynden carefully guides trails of molten glass to create intricate, landscape-like compositions within the glass itself. The resulting depth, movement and interplay of colour evoke the raw beauty of New Zealand’s volcanic terrain.
A statement piece of extraordinary presence, this large teardrop invites closer inspection, revealing subtle details and layers that make it as rewarding to contemplate as it is beautiful to display. Entirely unique, it embodies the meeting of natural inspiration and artistic mastery.
Each piece is individually signed and dated by the artist, affirming its authenticity and place within Lynden’s original body of work.
