Lava Glass Goes Solar: A Bright Step Toward Net Carbon Zero

At Lava Glass, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do - from our glassblowing process to our garden design. Now, we’re thrilled to share another exciting step in our journey toward becoming carbon net zero: the installation of 160 solar panels on our property.

These panels generate over 50kW of clean, renewable energy, allowing us to power all of Lava Glass - and even export surplus electricity back to the national grid. We’ve been loving these sunny winter days, which not only light up our studio, gallery and cafe but also fuel our furnace and creative workspaces with pure solar energy.

This project is the latest puzzle piece in our broader sustainability mission. For years, we’ve been working to reduce our environmental footprint, and solar power now plays a major role in that effort. By harnessing the power of the sun, we’re significantly reducing our carbon emissions.

We’re proud to lead by example in the New Zealand art and tourism community, showing that premium collectable glass art can be both beautiful and environmentally responsible.

Thank you for supporting our journey. When you visit Lava Glass, you’re not just experiencing world-class glass art - you're also part of a cleaner, greener future.
